Introduction

There are some Unix mechanisms allowed to register different system events by loggin them to a text files, well known as Log files or logs.

The system messages are produced by:

• operation system itself (usually through the syslogd),
• software applications.

For registering events, you can tune:

• event types,
• delivery typeÔÉÐ ÏÐÏ×ÅÝÅÎÉÑ (e-mail, write to file, send to another host),
• name of a log file.

(For volunteers) it's a good idea to add a feature that allows to signal user about events trough e-mail, because e-mail client programm is more clean to talk with user in a common way, and also allows you to manage messages anyway.
